Not everyone is going to feel the same way about the loved on that you have lost so the poems may seem irrelevant to them. Something they know would make the deceased proud to hear of.
Even if you do not suffer from public speaking nerves, it would be a good idea to practice giving your eulogy in front of a family member or a friend. The family members must simply put into effect those details that have previously been decided. Burial customs vary enormously depending on culture.
And if all of your practice fails and you cry, that is alright too. Poems can range in topics and styles, flowery or overly dramatic poetry is not the only option available. We leave the dark and dim home of our mother's womb to discover a new home in a brighter, wider world.
And it doesn't end after death. Ultimately, the most important thing is to reflect the unique personality of the deceased.
