A lot of people read out poems at wakes and funerals. A funeral speech is possibly the most important speech that you have ever written.
They will work with family members to choose a method of burial including the choice of a casket. The first thing you want to consider is to lean on your friends and family. Read through the funeral poem several times (out loud) before the funeral so that you feel comfortable with the words.
And because the funeral home is so ingrained in the landscape of the town, you will be met with a familiar face, people who know you and your family. If more than one person is delivering a eulogy, coordinate with them so both approaches are used. This is a celebration of your loved ones life, you shouldn't feel that it is necessary to find poems which are too morbid, if you want something up beat and cheerful then do it.
Writing a eulogy should not be taken lightly. Grief is not something we can simply set aside.
