wayne boze funeral home red oak

Although being asked to give a eulogy is truly an honor, if you're the one who's been chosen, you may find yourself feeling anxious about the task before you. Central to the funeral and concluding the public grieving period following a death is the eulogy, a funeral speech about the person who died.

My feelings are that you should go with what feels right for you and what your departed loved one may have wanted. Memorial service poems can actually put everyone more at ease during a funeral or memorial service. If giving the eulogy is overwhelming to you, remember that while it may seem daunting, there are tips that can help you manage your anxiety and help you provide a service to both the living in their moment of loss and to the one you have lost.

Look for a focal point or make eye contact with someone who can provide that extra strength you need. From the Bible or other religious texts to anthologies and websites of eulogy poetry and inspirational quotes, you may find the words you seek. Noteworthy personal habits and a little humor are usually mixed in with mention of special accomplishments and attractive personality characteristics.

While overwhelming, it does not need to be confusing. Grief is not something we can simply set aside.
